Vintage Potato Barrels

The potato was the first domesticated vegetable between 8000 and 5000 BCE. It arrived in Europe in the late 1600's, via the British Isles between 1588 and 1593.

Storage of potatoes has seen many different forms, you probably imagine square potato boxes or sacks.

These two lovely barrels have original stickers although the one looks like it may have been used for transporting butter. Each have three handles.

A great prop for any farm shop, deli etc...
