Large Round Log Basket

This stunning antique vintage log basket is a real statement piece for any larger room, open plan living. You don't come across many original baskets this substantial. Wicker is of Scandinavian origin: Vida, which means to bend, generally made from willow. Light but incredibly sturdy. Wicker has been documented back to ancient Egypt. Only the wealthy pharaohs had items such as baskets. The 19th century saw huge popularity in Europe with Victorians believing it to be more sanitary than upholstered furniture.
